Punjab, Pakistan: 33 Terrorists Arrested, Major Terror Plot Foiled
Punjab, Pakistan – Law enforcement agencies in Punjab successfully foiled a major terror plot by arresting 33 terrorists linked to various banned organizations, including Al-Qaeda and the 133 Brigade. This major crackdown came as a result of 475 intelligence-led operations conducted across multiple districts in the province last week.
Punjab Police, through the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), launched extensive operations, resulting in the registration of 32 cases against the suspects. The arrested terrorists were taken to an undisclosed location for further investigation. The CTD revealed that during the operations, at least 475 suspects were questioned.
The arrested individuals were affiliated with notorious terror groups such as Al-Qaeda, 133 Brigade, Sipah Sahaba Pakistan, Lashkar Jhangvi, and Tehreek Jafaria Pakistan. The coordinated efforts of the security agencies prevented a potentially devastating attack.
Officials reported the seizure of a significant cache of weapons and explosives during the operations. Items recovered included two hand grenades, two IED bombs, 26 detonators, safety fuse wire, four pistols, ammunition, and banned extremist literature.
The swift actions by law enforcement agencies have been hailed as a significant step in maintaining peace and security in the region. Further investigations are underway to dismantle any remaining terror networks in the province.
