Chandigarh Blast Suspects, Rohan and Vishal Masih
Chandigarh, Punjab – The Punjab Police have arrested two suspects, Rohan Masih and Vishal Masih, in connection with the recent blast in Chandigarh. Both suspects come from underprivileged backgrounds, working as carpenters to make ends meet, and their families have expressed shock and disbelief over the accusations.
Vishal Masih, one of the arrested suspects, hails from Raimal village in the Dera Baba Nanak block. His family lives in dire poverty, residing in a small, crumbling house. Vishal’s father, Sarabjit Singh, is handicapped and works as a laborer, while his mother earns a meager living as a maid. His younger brother also contributes to the household by working as a daily wage laborer.
According to villagers, Vishal had been absent from his hometown for several months, only returning briefly a week before his arrest. A neighbor recounted how Vishal had become close friends with Rohan Masih about a year ago, and the two frequently worked together. In fact, Rohan had stayed at Vishal’s home on September 10, further cementing their connection.
While details of Vishal’s involvement in the blast remain unclear, locals speculate that financial hardship may have played a role. Struggling with poverty and harboring dreams of improving his family’s living conditions, Vishal could have been tempted by the lure of quick money.
Rohan Masih, the second suspect, comes from Pashia village. His family, unlike Vishal’s, has been largely disconnected from the local community. Villagers say they had not seen Rohan’s family for about a year, as they had moved away. His father, Bira Masih, works in marriage halls as a laborer, while his brother, Joban, worked as a carpenter in Jammu and Kashmir. Joban’s current whereabouts remain unknown, adding another layer of complexity to Rohan’s family situation.
Further complicating Rohan’s background is the revelation that his mother separated from the family years ago. A distant relative mentioned that Rohan’s family situation, combined with their financial challenges, might have influenced his involvement in criminal activities. The blast news has taken everyone by surprise, as the family was not well-known in their village.
Authorities continue to investigate how Rohan and Vishal became involved in the Chandigarh blast. Early speculation points toward their financial hardships and the potential promise of money as driving factors. However, Punjab Police have not ruled out the possibility of larger criminal networks being involved, with further probes expected to shed light on their recent activities.
The case has left both villages grappling with disbelief and confusion, as residents try to reconcile their memories of the two young men with the serious accusations they now face.
As investigations continue, the tragic circumstances surrounding Rohan and Vishal’s lives underline the complex socio-economic factors that can lead individuals toward criminal paths.
This piece highlights the deep personal and social challenges faced by the suspects, bringing attention to the broader issue of poverty and crime in rural India. The evolving investigation into their criminal ties is likely to uncover more about how these two individuals ended up involved in the Chandigarh blast.
