Three Family Members Killed in Ferozepur
FEROZEPUR, PUNJAB– In a horrific daylight firing incident, three family members were killed and two others were seriously injured when six unidentified assailants opened fire on their car near Gurdwara Sri Akalgarh Sahib this afternoon. The victims, identified as Jaspreet Kaur (26), Dildeep Singh (21), and Akashdeep Singh, were all residents of the city area. The two injured, Anmoldeep Singh (24) and Harpreet Singh, are currently undergoing treatment, with Anmoldeep referred to Ludhiana due to the severity of his injuries.
The tragic event unfolded around 12:15 PM when the family was en route to invite relatives for Jaspreet Kaur’s wedding, scheduled for October 24. As they approached the gurdwara, six assailants on two motorcycles intercepted their vehicle (registration number PB-15-E-5870) and unleashed a barrage of bullets, firing approximately 50 rounds at the car.
Jaspreet Kaur was killed instantly, while Dildeep Singh and Akashdeep Singh succumbed to their injuries en route to the hospital. The injured, Anmoldeep Singh and Harpreet Singh are in critical condition, with Anmoldeep being transferred to a Ludhiana hospital for specialized care.
According to sources, Dildeep Singh had a criminal background, with two murder cases registered against him in Mamdot and Kharar. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had also raided his residence last year, adding a potential motive to the attack.
Senior police officials, including Ferozepur Range DIG Ajay Maluja, SSP Saumya Mishra, and SP (D) Randhir Kumar, swiftly arrived at the crime scene. The area has been cordoned off, and a forensic team along with a dog squad is conducting a thorough investigation.
This incident has sent shockwaves through the community, raising concerns over public safety and the underlying criminal activities in the region. The police are intensifying efforts to identify and apprehend the assailants.
